Un escaparate presenta ante mí la obra de unas manos primorosas.
Cómo no reconocer la labor si en una infancia propia de niña sentada en sillita de anea a la sombra mientras los adultos hacía la siesta del estio me crucifiqué haciendo bastas y crucetas. A los diez años tironeada por esa abuela que esperaba de mí las mayor de las virtudes, se mujer de provecho.
¿Qué diría si viera los papeles nuevos asignados a las féminas?
Ella que aunque brava estuvo bajo el auspicio del hombre.

LONDON - Five new paintings from David Hockney’s East Yorkshire landscape series will be exhibited for the first time in the UK at Tate Britain from 11 June 2007. David Hockney is arguably the most versatile and popular British artist of the 20th century. The exhibition of new paintings marks the artist’s 70th birthday in July. David Hockney: The East Yorkshire Landscape will include five large new paintings, each one around 12ft long. The new works were all painted from the same spot in Woldgate Woods over the course of one year.
David Hockney was born on 9 July 1937 in Saltaire, Bradford. He graduated from the Bradford School of Art in 1957 and studied at the Royal College of Art from 1959-1962. While there he met RB Kitaj and became instrumental in the founding of the British Pop Art movement. Hockney settled in Los Angeles in 1978. He has been the subject of countless solo exhibitions worldwide including a major touring retrospective held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and the Tate Gallery, London in 1988.
East Yorkshire first engaged Hockney’s imagination as a teenager when he worked on the land during summer holidays, stoking corn. As an adult, Hockney has intermittently returned to this part of England when visiting his mother and sister at their home in the coastal town of Bridlington. However, he only became fully absorbed by the landscape over the past four years, making it the primary source of inspiration for his art. Attracted by the space and light of East Yorkshire, where he has said one experiences “the sorts of wide vistas you get all the time in the American West,” Hockney first addressed this pastoral landscape in watercolour. The watercolour medium allowed Hockney to work quickly in open air to capture the changing light and its effect upon the land. Returning to the same locales, Hockney is now approaching the subject in oil, while still painting primarily in situ.

El paisaje no es tal sino que quien lo proyecta me hace llegar una sensibilidad que me impacta dando un toque leve en mi alma.
Contemplaré cada color, cada forma. Me sentiré parte de él e integrada entre sus colores y sus senderos. Tomaré una u otra ruta. Accederé a aquello para lo que esté dispuesta.

"London - The Craft is the fantastical documentation of a fictional sect. Created by the artists Emma Talbot and Cathie Pilkington it brings together an anthology of work claiming to document the existence of a hither to undiscovered isolated community. The exhibition will present the artists’ ‘finds’ in the form of a museological compilation of objects, tableau and paintings. This home-spun museum of curiosities is the fictitious hinterland which reveals Cathie Pilkington and Emma Talbot’s collective fascination with the darker side of human experience including their interests in gothic obsession, entrenched belief systems and communal codes of behavior."

Emma Talbot on syntynyt vuonna 1969. Hän opiskeli Birmingham Institute of Art & Designissa sekä Royal College of Artissa. Vuoden 1995 hän oli stipendiaattina Roomassa British Schoolissa, ja vuotta myöhemmin Emma opiskeli Susan Kasen Summers -apurahan turvin Connecticutissa, Yhdysvalloissa. Hän on esitellyt teoksiaan Isossa-Britanniassa, Ranskassa, Saksassa, Italiassa, Suomessa, Australiassa ja Yhdysvalloissa. Hänen töitään on merkittävissä yleisissä kokoelmissa.
Ante el cuadro me he sentido transportada a la memoria de mi misma. No la circunstancial que es meramente accidental. A aquella memoria colectiva del ser. La yoidad de mujer. En un ser colectivo que me identifica y atribuye forma y contexto.
En esta proyección que recojo como espejo de mi me recreo y por ello lo trigo aquí.

Me llama la atención la inversión y la focalización en una gota.
Desde mi casa puedo acceder al museo virtual.
Alcanzo el mismo placer cuando, ante mis ojos, la pantalla me presenta un cuadro que de cualquier localización se pueda haber colocado.

COLUMBUS, GA - American drawings of the late 18th through the mid-to-late 20th century represent one of the chief strengths of the Museums collection. To examine more recent trends in American drawing, the Museum presents New Directions, which will feature work by 16 artists, several of whom have yet to receive a major museum exhibition: James Barsness, Suzanne Bocanegra, Hilary Brace, Brad Brown, Ingrid Calame, Russell Crotty, Valerie Demianchuk, Leonardo Drew, Anthony Goicolea, Edgar Jerins, Julie Mehretu, Amy Myers, Robyn O'Neil, Peggy Preheim, Jane South and Lee Walton. The exhibition will be accompanied by an illustrated catalog and is organized by Stephen C. Wicks, the Museum's former Curator of Collections and Exhibitions.
New Directions will demonstrate the renewed importance of drawing as a contemporary art form and the dynamic ways in which artists are pushing the medium into new, creative territory. The exhibition will encourage viewers to redefine their notion of drawing, its aesthetic range, visual power and expressive potential. Along with examples of innovative approaches to the medium, the selection will include works by artists who exploit, in extraordinary ways, traditional aspects of drawing.
